Ahjolan kansalaisopisto
The Adult Education Center of Ahjola is situated on the Ridge of Pispala, near Haulitorni. We offer a lot of courses in many fields.
It is possible to study languages, practical skills like handicraft and computer skills, arts, physical exercise, healthcare, astronomy and music. We have also different kinds of courses for children and youngsters. Parents can study music, handicrafts and physical exercise with their children, too.
Especially for foreigners and immigrants we have a wide range of Finnish courses. A specific list can be found on our website here.
Some of the Finnish courses are held in the clubrooms of the women’s centre Naistari in Hervanta (Lindforsink.4.) These courses are free of charge.
Unemployed persons can apply for a student voucher which enables them to study with payment of 30 % of the normal course fee. The conditions and application form are obtained here: student voucher
Please note that the number of student vouchers is limited. Vouchers are given on a first come, first served basis.
It is necessary to register in advance for all courses. It is possible to register by phone 044 553 8444 during the office hours 9 -15 or through internet, 24 hours a day, https://www.opistopalvelut.fi/ahjolankansalaisopisto/.
Students will be registered in the courses on a first come, first served basis. If you want to be sure of getting a place in the course of your choice, be sure to register in time. If the course is full, you may have yourself placed on a waiting list. Our office will inform you, if there is a place available for you.
Advance registering is binding. If you wish to cancel a course after registering, it is necessary to inform the Ahjola office. Please cancel at least a week before the course begins and there will be no charge. If you don’t cancel and don’t attend the course, the full course fee will be charged.
